Prasar Bharti Set to Add More Channels on DD Free Dish Platform

Prasar Bharti, the biggest public broadcasting agency in India has invited applications from broadcasters for filling vacant MPEG-4 slots on its DD Free Dish platform. As per the notification, the broadcasters can apply for the slots between 1st September 2020 and 31st March 2021. The public service broadcasting agency said that all the companies that are willing to offer their channels on the DD Free Dish platform can start sending their applications before 24th August 2020.

If necessary, Prasar Bharati might conduct an e-auction on 25th August 2020. At the beginning of this month, the broadcasting agency had officially announced that two channels had secured slots on this platform. The two channels include News State UP/Uttarakhand and ABZY Movies. On Friday, Prasar Bharti issued an official notice informing that the satellite channels licensed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting would be allotted slots on the DD Free Dish platform.

After allotting the slots for the satellite channels, it will permit the international public broadcasters. The international broadcasters who are registered by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will also be eligible for the e-auction, said Prasar Bharati in the notice. The notice further informed that the bidding price for the e-auction will hold a base price of Rs. 50.40 lakhs. The e-auction will be open for all the language channels and genres.

Prasar Bharati further informed that the winning bidders can make the payments in a total of 5 monthly installments. The willing bidders need to pay the non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 25000 via online mode. On the other hand, they need to pay a participation fee of Rs. 1.25 lakh via Demand Draft. The unsuccessful bidders in the e-auction will receive refunds on the participation fee in 3 weeks upon the declaration of e-auction.
