Netflix to Launch Its First TV Channel in France

Netflix, one of the most popular streaming services has announced its entry into real-time with its first and foremost linear content TV channel in France. The California-based streaming services provider called it a ‘direct and subscription-based’ channel. The channel will air French, international, and US feature films and Television series already available on the media streaming platform, as per the latest reports.

The Netflix TV channel will be accessible to the people residing in particular regions in France as of now. Further, by December, the media streaming services provider might expand its plans to more users. Netflix said, ‘The TV channel will only be accessible via the service’s web browser, unlike its streaming service, which is found on set-top boxes thanks to distribution deals with French telco groups such as Orange, Canal Plus and SFR. ‘

The popular streaming service provider further said that it selected France to test its initial linear channel due to the ‘consumption of traditional TV [in France].’ Netflix states, ‘In France, watching traditional TV remains hugely popular with people who just want a ‘lean back’ experience where they don’t have to choose shows.’

In January, earlier this year, the streaming firm opened an office in France and promised to increase its investment in French content. It is not a common TV channel. However, you can access something on Netflix’s website. Similar to a cable channel or broadcast channel, people can watch any movie or TV show based on their preferences.
